Meet The Team – Rachel Jones
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, we’re sitting down with Rachel Jones, Director of Corporate Administration, who has been a key part of the Newmor team since 2008. Over the years, Rachel has played an important role in supporting the people and structures that help the business run smoothly behind the scenes. From starting as HR Manager in 2008 to becoming a director in 2024, Rachel’s journey reflects the value of experience, dedication and long-term development within the business. We caught up with Rachel to learn more about her role, her career at Newmor, and what she enjoys outside of work.
Name: Rachel Jones
Time at Newmor: Since 2008!
What is your role at Newmor, and what does a typical day look like for you?:
My role at Newmor is Director of Corporate Administration, and there is never really a typical day for me! I have overall responsibility for the HR function and work very closely with our HR Manager to support our people across the business. There is a lot that happens behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly – no two days are ever the same; one day might involve reviewing policies or working on compliance, and the next might be discussing people development, recruitment or longer-term planning for the business.
Tell us about your journey at Newmor: where did you start, and how did you end up in your role today?
I started at Newmor in 2008 as HR Manager. It was my first managerial role, although I had worked in a similar position previously, so it was a great opportunity to take on more responsibility and really develop my experience.
Over the years, my role gradually evolved as the business grew and the needs of the company changed. I became more involved in the wider corporate administration side of the business, alongside the HR function, which gave me the opportunity to work closely with different departments and understand how everything fits together.
In 2024, I took on the role of Director of Corporate Administration. Around the same time, Robyn joined us as HR Manager; she has been a great addition to the team, and allows me to focus more on the broader strategic and governance aspects of the role. It’s been really rewarding to grow alongside the business and to see how both Newmor and the team have developed over the years.
Is there a moment in your career here that stands out that you’re particularly proud of?
Being made a Director in October 2024 was definitely a standout moment for me and something I am extremely proud of.
Having been part of the business for many years, it felt like a real milestone and recognition of the journey I’ve been on at Newmor. I’ve seen the company evolve and grow over that time, and what makes it even more special is working alongside a team of people who care about the business and each other!
How has Newmor changed since you first joined, and what has it been like to be part of that growth?
Newmor has changed quite a lot over the years. Like many manufacturers we’ve developed the way we work in order to keep moving forward and stay competitive in our industry.
We’ve also expanded into new markets and continued to grow internationally, which has been exciting to see. At the same time, what’s really nice is that the company has still maintained its family ethos and strong sense of community. It’s also been great to see people grow within the company and build long careers here.
Favourite Place
Family holidays in Portugal. The weather is always beautiful, the food is lovely, and it’s the perfect place to spend quality time together. It’s somewhere we always enjoy going back to.
Colour
Royal Blue.
Hobby
My favourite hobby is horse riding. I do showjumping, eventing, trec and lots of hacking with my girls. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed and it’s a great way to switch off and spend time outdoors.
A huge thank you to Rachel for taking part in this instalment of our Meet the Team series, and for sharing her Newmor journey with us! Keep an eye out for further Meet The Team instalments.
