Clerkenwell Design Week 2023

We had a fantastic time in sunny London for Clerkenwell Design Week 2023. Here are some of our personal highlights, emerging trends we spotted, and images we wanted to share.

Clerkenwell 2023 was bursting with amazing new products and materials that have filled the team at Newmor with inspiration. It was an amazing celebration of creativity, design, and innovation. Bringing together designers, specifiers, and both emerging and established brands, the atmosphere at Clerkenwell this year was truly electric!

Trends From Clerkenwell 2023

There was a wealth of inspiring design from designers new and old at Clerkenwell. Here are the three main trends we picked up on for 2023.

1. Organic Forms and Finishes

Drawing on the massive lean toward biophilia seen in the interiors market in recent years, natural and organic finishes from mycelium mushroom blocks to worn-leather accessories, this look is dominating in 2023. With tones of earthy greens and rusty-clay reds, this trend celebrates the raw materials that the natural world gives to us and brings texture and warmth to interior spaces.

Echoing our Terra Firma trend from our January trend report, this trend connects us with the earth and is safe and reassuring. It is reflective of the natural world, comforting and nurturing. The warm tones are not only uplifting, but also very practical and versatile. We’re sure this trend will only get bigger in the coming months.

2. Optimistic Colour

The colour palettes were bright this year at Clerkenwell. This is a trend sees a rush of sweet, candy-like colours on a variety of glossy materials. Bright colours are a natural mood booster, and combined with abstract shapes and confident graphic pattern, this fun trend definitely delivers a natural high. Stand-out colours included fuscia pink, electric blue and neon greens.

Fitting perfectly into our Dopamine Rush trend, which draws on barbie-core and primary bright colours with high gloss finishes to deliver a rush of colour drenched joy.

3. Sun-Drenched Tones

Golden, sun-drenched hues of yellow, orange, and sunny nudes, this trend was like sunshine in a bottle. With glowing metallics exuding joy, this trend is optimistic and draws on a moodboosting palette, inspired by the focus on mental health and wellbeing in the design industry over the last few years.

Partnered with our Walking on Sunshine trend; which Harnesses the power and optimism of the sunrising on a brand new day and the feeling of warmth on your skin.

We’re looking forward to attending Clerkenwell again next year! To see our full trend report for 2023 click here.
