The inspiration

Just north of Sheffield, Barnsley has every right to consider itself part of the grafting backbone of the UK. Coal wasn’t the area’s only export; Barnsley’s flag depicts a proud glassblower standing next to a miner. These days the glass industry is not as large as it once was, but it lives on in this hotel.

The design

Industrially styled metal frames, glass jar walls, exposed piping, weathered surfaces and historical black and white imagery feature throughout. The guest rooms are a contemporary take on the theme… brilliant purple, orange and red glass jar lamp wallcoverings take centre stage.

Our wallcoverings

Our design studio worked alongside the designer to develop mining and glassblowing inspired wallcoverings for the lobby and common areas. We also supplied bespoke wallcoverings for the bedrooms – all based on the rich industrial history of the area.
